If you love the Three Stooges right?..., I mean, you are a REAL Three Stooges fan. (Die hard for Curly,,, but equally as happy to watch Shemp...) Would you ever recommend to your friends that they rush out and catch SNOW WHITE MEETS THE THREE STOOGES? I don't think you would. (For fun go to that movie on Amazon and see what kind of reviews that film got, you may just have to punch yourself in the head ) The reason is that Snow White Meets The Three Stooges,,, or any of the other full length Stooge movies, released a dozen years too late, are a mess. Filled with rehashed jokes and uninspired carbon copies of carbon copies of the once brilliant once GREAT Three Stooges.
Now, I will tell you how since the tender age of six I awaited a Simpson movie. In fact, I have a poster that I made myself, sometime around 1990 with some crude intrepreted drawings of Americas first family. Me and millions of fans waited. 18 years... Telling Matt G and co. that they were crazy for not making a movie. They kept saying "no way." Or at best giving us small doses of false hope for their own amusement.. ("The movie will be made when the series ends" they said, knowing full well that the series would never end...)
Now the movie has been made, run, released on DVD and available on cable. I feel like I did the first time I flipped on TNT to see that Snow White and The Three Stooges movie. Sure it was a grand spectacle in full color, but those vibrant reds and greens only gave more light to the fact that The Stooges were long past their prime. (And probably should have just stuck to the old time black and white one reelers.
I think that The Simpsons still deserve to be on TV, (yes they have settled for being just okay, and even being downright dull on occasion,, instead of being earth shatteringly brilliant like their hey day, but they still deliver a great every now and again...) The movie just used up way too much gas for me. Didn't like it and could hardly even pretend. My five year old kid likes it, so I don't mind watching it with him on FX,,, but I feel I'm doing him a disservice in some way. I was bored! Plus Bart as an alcoholic and other certain gags in this thing actually deppressed me a little bit. "D'oh'm." (Thats a combination of the words D'oh and Dumb, I assume) I hope to eventually forget this one completely. Sorry.

Surprisingly Cute Family Entertainment

I am not a big fan of The Simpsons. It is not that I dislike them, but I just never got into them; although, I have enjoyed the occasional episode. Recently, however, due to circumstances my control, my husband showed THE SIMPSONS MOVIE to our 4 and 1/2 year old daughter...and she LOVED it. At this point, I would say that she has watched it in whole or in part over 25 times. She can quote quite large portions of the script verbatim, and of course, she can sing the Spider Pig song...loudly. So, obviously, I needed to screen THE SIMPSONS MOVIE personally. (Better late than never!)
And, much to my surprise, I found THE SIMPSONS MOVIE to be very fun and quite entertaining; truly much better than I had expected. THE SIMPSONS MOVIE has a fun story, many humorous and memorable moments, and is true to itself - what more could I ask for? There is nothing particularly bad or unsavory in this movie; nothing that will corrupt my four year old. (There are, however, a few things that go over her head: she had to asked her dad what a "doodle" was! Then again, she asked me to define "epiphany" for her. So, I guess you take your vocabulary words where you can get them.) The rest of my family, my husband and my 12 year old daughter, also really enjoys THE SIMPSONS MOVIE.
So, quite surprisingly, I am recommending THE SIMPSONS MOVIE as an entertaining family flick. While not all of their episodes are fit for all ages, this movie works and really tickles our collective funny bone. Well done, Homer. You've still got it after all these years.

The Simpsons movie is witty, fast paced, touching, hugely entertaining and most importantly: laugh out loud funny. And if your a Simpsons fan who's loved every episode , that's all you'll need from it.
However if , like me , your an obsessive fan who's noticed a drop in quality on the show from the late nineties onwards you'll see some problems. You'll see that structure wise the movie is basically an extended episode. You'll notice that the villain is a Hank Scorpio rip off. You'll feel that a lot of the plot points and character drama seem all too familiar. But in spite of all this , in spite of being a film based on a show that exhausted its best gags long ago, the Simpsons movie is still absolutely hilarious and i take my hat off to the creators for managing to make it so.

Funniest movie on the planet

This might be the funniest movie i have ever seen. This movie has dumb people, guns, cops, homer, bart, and the famous spider pig(harry plopper). This movie is so funny, you will be on the floor in about 20 minuets into the movie. My favorite part is when bart goes to krusty's on his scateboard, NAKED. i freackin laughed my head off. you will love to add this movie to your simpson collection, and your movie collection. Anybody who buys this movie, will love it.

Patchwork.

This movie has the same problem that the series did, it has too many individual pieces that are edited together. For instance, their was an episode where a mailman was found frozen with hundreds of undelivered peices of mail. That in and of itself would have made a great episode but the mailman was only mentioned as an afterthought. The same goes for this movie as well, it is several good, independant ideas for a tv show or movie all thrown together with tidbits of environmental jargon thrown in to make it appear as if it is one complete movie. It is not, and this method has only fooled a couple of people. Perhaps there are too many writers all contributing nonsense.
