Disappointing Quality

My son loves this movie so I got it for him for Christmas. I was under the impression that it was a 'new' dvd. It has a scratch on it so the movie has a long spot in the middle that is really messed up. My son didn't tell me about it until it was too late.

How original!

What I liked about this story was how dazzlingly original the characters and plot elements were. A young farmboy who finds a secret weapon and becomes the savior of the land? A bearded wizard who guides him to maturity? A spunky princess in need of rescuing? A besieged group of good guys who triumph unexpectedly when all seems lost? The henchman's evil right-hand man who is killed, beyond all hope, at the very last moment?
Truly groundbreaking.

I bought this DVD for my daughter, we watched it once and donated it to the local library. It is not the type of movie to watch over and over.

The movie fails to live upto the book

Its so sad that the movie is not even slightly close to the story in the book. I wish Chistopher Paolini had a bigger hand in the say that the character portrayal and the sequence of events in the movie should be very close to the book. The movie overall is a big disappointment especially the voice of Saphira (it sounds really old) so don't waste your money in buying this movie.

Dragon lover

I have only seen the movie, never read the book. So I base this review on that alone. I loved the fantasy and felt like this movie actually took me there with it. I would not call it a kid only movie. Much better than any other movies I've seen in this category. I was disapointed by it ending and felt like it needed to continue, and then there was never a sequal. So I probably would prefer the book. But nothing can replace seeing these beautiful dragons up on the big screen. And riding them, it's breathtaking for anyone who likes dragons and mystical creatures. This movie really helps bring them to life with a good story.
