Plot: A woman finds herself drafted into the battle of finding the perfect man in this romantic comedy. Sarah Nolan (Diane Lane) is a kindergarten teacher in her mid-thirties who is still dealing with the emotional aftermath of her divorce eight months ago. While her sisters, Christine (Ali Hillis) and Carol (Elizabeth Perkins), both think Sarah needs to start dating again, Sarah herself isn't so sure. Carol decides to force the issue by posting Sarah's photo and profile on an Internet dating site, and soon a number of seemingly eligible bachelors are sending her e-mails in hopes of a date. However, nearly every man she meets turns out to be a loser, with the exception of Jake (John Cusack), who is smart, good looking, and even brings along a dog for their walk in the park (though he doesn't tell her the pooch was borrowed for the occasion). However, Sarah also makes the acquaintance of Bob (Dermot Mulroney), the divorced father of one of her students, and she finds herself having to choose between two potentially worthwhile men. Meanwhile, Sarah's widowed father, Bill (Christopher Plummer), decides to give Internet dating a try, and lands himself a new steady in Dolly (Stockard Channing). Must Love Dogs is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Claire Cook. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Must Love Dogs (Full Screen Edition)

Sarah Nolan, a preschool teacher in her thirties, is recently divorced. Her family's new pet project is to find her a boyfriend. After a series of disastrous, but hilarious, dates she decides to swear off dating for good. Her well-meaning family and friends are not going to let her give-up quite so easily though. Her sister enrolls her in on-line dating and includes the description of "must love dogs." She loves dogs but doesn't own one of her own, so she borrows her brother's dog to meet Jake Anderson at the dog park; he, too, had to borrow a dog. It's a hit-and-miss beginning but could true love wag its tail for these two. Must Love Dogs is a familiar yet enjoyable romantic comedy that should keep you entertained.

Fun romance comedy

I just rented this because it was a comedy I hadn't seen and I was loading up with movies to watch during a snowstorm. Very surprisingly funny, and one we girls in the family now want to own. The blend of actors you recognize from other movies now together in this was very interesting too--Christopher Plummer from Sound of Music, Elizabeth Perkins from Big, and Lane and Cusack from numerous ones. Two thumbs up is our vote!

Love, Love this Movie . . . .

I never watch this movie in the theatres. I borrowed the DVD of this movie from my best friend who said that I would like it. She was wrong because I truly love, love this movie. I like all the actors in this movie and the dogs. Diana Lane does a superb job as a recent divorcee who is being encourage by her family to not give up and to start dating again. I even liked the butcher at the local grocery store. It is after this that I decided to buy it for my own movie collection. Now I can watch it anytime I want. It is a sweet, funny movie that makes you feel good.

The DVD seems to be defective. I played well for better than half of the movie but then it would just quit, like someone clicked a 'Pause' button. If you leave it that way for a few minutes it would pickup at another spot in the movie and then do the same thing again... How do I get a replacement for this one???
